4G is a technology that enables us to achieve higher speed of Internet on a device, such as a computer, tablet or cell phone through a PC card, dongle or a SIM card. The SETAR 4G network is based on a 21 Mbps HSPA+.

SETAR offers special 4G Wireless Broadband plans to fit every need with coverage all over the island. It's really simple, whether you have a tablet, a laptop or a netbook, we offer different Prepaid plans for each user type. Specially for tourists we offer 4G Wireless Broadband Prepaid plans with coverage all over the island with the option to switch from 4G to Wi-Fi when you are on a SETAR Wi-Fi Hotspot. You can buy a SIM card, a 4G dongle or a Micro SIM for the iPad at one of our Teleshops and the Airport- and Cruise Terminal Kiosk where you can also buy 4G Prepaid cards with Wi-Fi.

The SETAR 4G network is based on the HSPA+  technology which allows us to modulate the signal in another way  and make more efficient use of the  frequency.  The wireless world is in a huge process of change from a system that formerly carried mainly voice traffic to one that now more and more will be focused on data applications. Back to top.

What is the maximum speed that SETAR 4G can achieve?

SETAR bases itself on a HSPA+ network which will give you a maximum speed of 21 Mbps. This refers to peak download speed. Actual speed may vary based on device, location and environmental conditions, network congestion and other factors. Back to top.

What is 4G for SETAR?

For SETAR all devices that can handle speeds of 14.4 Mbps or more of data is 4G, for example a smartphone, tablet or dongle which maybe HSDPA or HSPA+ and that can reach a maximum speed of 14.4 Mbps or higher. Back to top.

For customers to be able to see the difference in speed they have to apply for the Surf & Mail Advanced Plans, either SurfHigh or SurfSuper. Currently the speed for downloading is up to 14.4 Mbps for SurfHigh and up to 21Mbps for SurfSuper. Customers who have a 4G cellphone will not be able to see a 4G sign like on the 3G screens. What the customer will see is the letter H which stands for HSPA+. Back to top.

Yes, SETAR does. SETAR introduced its 3G Wireless Broadband (3G) service in 2007 and since then is offering this service in 3 different postpaid packages, with high speeds of 3G. And now SETAR is offering 4G Wireless Broadband speeds via a dongle or SIM card for laptops, tablets & Micro SIM for iPad in both Postpaid and Prepaid. Back to top.
